Recording Comments:
If I were to guess, I'd say this was recorded from a FOB location, on the Jerry side of the stage - I saw Emmylou Harris & The Nash Ramblers play in this building during the 1990 Bumbershoot Festival, and from my recollection, it's not a very big place - I'd guess that the soundboard was probably located about half-way back on the floor...if anyone can shed any more light on the probable taping location or mics used, based on the sound, please do! My best guess would be that Jamie had some type of Sennheiser mics then (maybe 441's), and a Sony D5 deck, but that's just a guess...

Song Comments:
-----Set 1-----
- this show starts out with Jerry playing some Feel Like a Stranger notes during tuning - Bobby picks Jack Straw instead, which turns out to be an inspired choice! Phil is really prominent right out of the gate - he's dropping bombs all over this one, and even 'solos' a bit!
- from that, we slide smoothly into a danceable (!) electric Deep Elem Blues that Jerry sings and plays perfectly - makes you wonder why they played it so infrequently...
- then, it's My Brother Esau (dubbed "Bobby's new noise" by reviewer Chris Forshay in the Deadhead's Taping Compendium Volume II)...this version is snappy, with some fat Phil notes rumbling just under the surface...I wish every version started with those low notes from Phil!
- Brown-Eyed Women finds Jerry in good voice (he really belts out the line "I cut hickory just to fiiiire the still"), and the tune chugs along at a good clip...
- a roarin' Little Red Rooster is next, complete with lots of Jerry and Bobby slide, Hammond organ, and featuring Brent's vocal part: "Hey there, Little Red Rooster, well you ain't shit to me...You think you're a stud, boy, well I doubt you'll ever be. While you're away I'm gonna mess with your head skin, I'm just bein' neighborly"...'nuff said! ;-)
- Ramble on Rose is like a carnival ride - fun and bouncy (with a slightly rough landing out of the solo), and everyone has a good time!
- Looks Like Rain is steady and sweet, Jerry's notes glistening above Phil's rumble...the ending is downright majestic, with Weir imploring "rain, rain, go away - haa!" as Jerry and Brent rain down crystalline notes...ahhh
- Deal - rocking this set to a close!
-----Set 2-----
- a speedy Touch of Grey with some mixed up lyrics (by both Jerry and Bob) starts things out, with Brent's keys and Phil's plucked bass notes very prominent
