Notes: Lucinda Williams was born on January 26, 1953 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Considering that she would grow up to be a singer-songwriter, it's no surprise that her father was award-winning poet and English professor, Miller Williams, and that her mother was a concert pianist. In other words, Lucinda is both literally and figuratively the result of music meeting poetry. It's next to impossible to find someone to compare Lucinda Williams to. Musically and spiritually, her essence is like a mix of Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Loretta Lynn. Williams has an essence that is almost impossible to describe. She is an artist, a songwriter, and an individual who seems to have a deeper understanding of things than her peers do. Her appeal, much like her beauty, seems ageless. This show is the KGSR Radio 8th Anniversary broadcast. Slight static on the right channel typical of some FM broadcasts but still an awesome sounding show. Thanks so much Ed
