They are not perfect; there are a number of skips and crackles from the original source, although these have been minimised by the CDR producer. They reportedly were mastered from an analog tape taken directly from the original acetates. When JVS bought these (,000?). He wouldn't make copies. In the early days (pre-DAT) he sold copies for a high price. He owed me a favour and did make a copy. These means for us acetate>tape>CD.
