The actual line-up (in the order in which they appear in the concert programme) was .. Tony Banks Phil Collins Peter Gabriel Mike Rutherford Daryl Stuermer Chester Thompson Though Steve Hackett was not supposed to be there and was never billed, he did in fact arrive towards the end of the show and joined the band onstage for the final few numbers ! The band where never actually billed as Genesis at all - they assumed the name "Six Of The Best" for this show, and indeed a commercially available boot did come out under the title Six Of The Best. It was available on vinyl as a double album. Another commercial boot surfaced around the same time under the title "Peter Gabriel Sings" A third commercial boot - "GABACABRIEL" also exists. This FADE release is non of those and all of those - it is a remaster by the FADE group. FADE stands for 'fan approved definitive editions'. As far as I know it uses all 3 previous versions (and possibly some other source). Takes the best bits - remaster them then stitch it all back up so you can't tell - viola Although this is without doubt the best quality version of this show you are ever likely to find, it does have to be said that it's not that great. I would say it's one for the true fans. I know for a fact that one of the sources was at the back of the crowd for the first part of the show at least - he was standing about 10 feet from me ! You can clearly hear me and my cronies shouting for 'the knife' very loudly (shame on me) on this boot I can honestly say that no recording of this show that I have ever heard has done it justice - it was a truely monumental, mind-numbingly, awsomely staggering, life changing event. The band played so well it could make you cry with joy. Yes - Peter forgott some of the words, but it didn't matter - and when he climbed the big speaker stack and did his Rael bit on top of it (and nearly fell of) the place just blew !!! To finish the show with The Knife, now with steve hackett on stage and the lighting rig working to full effect in the dark october night sky was almost more than the poor fans could take! This was without doubt the greatest gig I ever had the pleasure and good fortune to see - and ever will. The only sad part is that this whole event was filmed and properly recorded with a full commercial release in mind (contrary to the notes on the back cover artwork - which are incorrect in this matter). All that footage and audio exists somewhere, but the last word I heard on the subject was that complicated copyright issues meant that it was unlikely to ever be released, or certainly not in the forseeable future. We live in hope .
