Brack (3/0) CDR-SBD / 1 A+ View   *Cynthia Gooding Radio Show (Interviews & Tunes)
Notes: *What a treat this recording is!!! Ive had it on analog for years and even now scoring the CDR its been difficult to stop listening to. A 20 year old Bob Dylan in a radio studio being interviewed by Cynthia Gooding and playing tunes for a show called "Folksingers Choice". Dylan's 1st album would be coming out in the upcoming months, but almost every tune he plays on this show are covers of some of his influences, Howlin' Wolf, Hank Williams, Muddy Waters etc. The performance seems as though a young Bob Dylan was chilling in your living room drinking coffee as you enjoy casual conversation and he plays incredible music. The interview is pretty fun, listening to Bob's stories and thoughts, but the music is incredible, ranging from a gritty "Fixin to Die", to a moaning "Smokestack Lighting", a folksy "Lonesome Whistle Blues", to a beautiful and sad version of "Emmit Till". Its easy to see from this recording, wether you are a die hard Dylan fan or just Bob-curious, why he took the world by storm and even now almost 40 years later is still amazing critics. My favorite part of the show is Cynthia's last question about his hat asking him if he will still wear it when he's rich & famous. You can almost hear him blush when he says "ah, I'll never be rich & famous". A must have.... 1. lonesome whistle blues 2. interview 3. fixin' to die 4. interview 5. smokestack lightnin' 6. interview 7. hard travelin' 8. interview 9. death of emmett till 10. interview 11. standing on the highway 12. interview 13. roll on john 14. interview 15. stealin' 16. interview 17. long time man feel bad 18. interview 19. baby please don't go 20. interview 21. hard times in new york town filler: ??? 22. percy's song

Notes: Cynthia Gooding Radio Show, NY March 11, 1962 The date shown is from the back cover, though this is most likely a re-broadcast date. The actual radio show could have been as early as February. History is a bit fuzzy here. This long lost radio show is in perfect quality. It is complete with wonderful live-on-the-spot renditions of the above traditional and Dylan songs, as well as fascinating conversation with a young, as yet undiscovered talent. Bob relates, hilariously, the eponymous title of his soon to be released first LP, and so much more. There is conversation in-between each song that is priceless. All in all, one of the best boots ever to emerge.
