FOB Master - NAK 300's>Sony D5>Cool Edit>CD-Wave>SHN
Jerry Garcia, Gloria Jones, John Kahn, David Kemper, Jaclyn LaBranch, Melvin Seals
From Dan Cole's collection of JGB cassettes - he had it listed as
Master FOB NAK 300's and was using a Sony D5 recorder at the
time. I recorded directly from his master tape to my computer using
Cool Edit, divided the tracks using CD Wave and then converted
to SHN before recording my copy onto cd. Tape flip cut close to the
end of Tangled Up and Blue.
Dan had this to say about recording this show
"JGB, The Stone 5/30-31/86 I waited outside, online for tickets the day of
the show and a limo drove up and dropped Jerry off to prepare for the show.
The funny thing was that there was nobody in The Stone to let Jerry in.
Jerry ended up waiting in line with us for about 30 minutes.
As soon as the doors opened Jerry disappeared, I purchased tickets and ran back
to my car for my taping equipment. Not being familiar with the taping scene at
the Stone, I shoved a mike stand down my pant leg and stashed the mics and deck
in my coat. I looked like a peg-legged hunch back going into the show.
I did this both nights and had the only mic stand in the place. I assume there
were a couple of stealth tapers closer to the stage. You will notice that I
faded between some of the songs. This was due to my lack of experience taping
Jerry. In addition there was a rather chatty group of young lovers in front of
my mic stand that I didn't really want to capture on my master tape."
The Jerry site on the web does not have any recording listed for
this show and I did not find any copies of this show listed in
either of the Phishhook or Etree online databases.
