Notes: fm - skanweed source - small d/o in BLA ~4:36. The Blues For Allah material was rarely played, and this date essentially features it only. In addition, Merl Saunders and Ned Lagin are on board and not just in the background. Their keyboard work adds a nice wash and very jazzy, "Weather Report-ish" or early 1970's jazz fusion feel in some places. Jerry's guitar tone and playing style was uniquely differt here, almost choreographed without truely free-form jams. The drum solo doesn't really fit into the middle of the Stonger than Dirt jam. Definitely worth a listen just to hear where the gd were for a very brief period of their career.

Notes: flac16; Recording Info: SBD -> Master Reel -> Dat; Transfer Info: Dat -> Samplitude Professional v11.1 -> FLAC; All Transfers and Mastering By Charlie Miller [2010-10-16]Charlie thinks this is only pre-fm copy. Interesting period, though BFA is too contrived as a composition for me, and doesn't fit the flowing style of the gd's improv that appeals most to me.

I like this one. Short, nothing wasted, unique style.
