Notes: Combination of an EX SBD pre-broadcast with patches from a 1st gen. off-air FM reel. 01 [6:30] Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring? 02 [7:17] band intros by BBC announcer John Peel > Every Mother's Son 03 [3:20] Medicated Goo 04 [5:20] John Barleycorn 05 [5:31] Pearly Queen 06 [6:35] Empty Pages 07 [7:58] Glad > 08 [4:51] Freedom Rider 09 [5:49] No Time To Live total: 53:11 band members: Steve Winwood, Chris Wood and Jim Capaldi Notes: There are 2 basic edits of this performance - 1 with and 1 without BBC announcer John Peel's spoken intros. The pre-broadcast SBD source sounds great but fades quickly between every song, making it all very cut up and hard to listen to. The other source is more complete, but the FM signal has some transmission noise and is compressed and less stereo-sounding. This version here is the pre-broadcast SBD source with splices between everything from the FM to restore the rest of the applause and John Peel's commentary. The last few seconds of John Barleycorn and the first few seconds of Glad were also missing from the pre-broadcast source. One song, No Time To Live, was only available on the edited source. Though it was the second song in the edited version, it did not sound right when spliced into the middle of John Peel's seamless comments, so it was put at the end after the original sequence of the FM version. Some might prefer to leave John Peel's comments out but in this case they are so intertwined with the music that it made for an unacceptable edit to cut it all out. Lineage: Primary SBD source: Westwood One "Superstars of Rock" #92-28 (1992) pre-broadcast transcription disc (commercials cut out) > Dat. Alternate BBC-FM source: 1st gen. off-air reel. > Macintosh with Digidesign AudioMedia III sound card > Pro Tools > AIFF files > xACT [level 8 flac files with sector boundaries verified]. No equalization or noise reduction. md5 file created with checkSUM+.
