Notes: It's here, and it's excellent. Highly recommended! "XM radio" is digital satellite radio available to subscribers in the USA. On 12 Nov. 2002, Porcupine Tree recorded a session at the brand- new XM performance studios in Washington DC. Steven Wilson then took the live recording back to his own studio, No Man's Land in Hemel Hempstead, UK, for remixing, but without adding overdubs. The results were broadcast. This copy was recorded directly to hard disk in WAV format and burned to CD-R - it's near-studio quality. The sibilants seem to have been enhanced slightly by the broadcast compression algorhythm - but if that's my only complaint, you get some idea of how good it is overall. There are two sets, which were broadcast a week apart. The first is electric; the full band performing much the same set as their support slots with 'Yes'. Excerpts of an interview with SW are included in 4 segments between music tracks. The tracklist: 12/11/02 Performance 1, XM Studios, Washington DC. USA Digital Radio A+ 58 Remixed by SW at No-Man's Land, Dec. 2002, without overdubs. Electric Set; full band. B.cast on 'XM Live'. 1: Intro 2: Interview 3: Blackest Eyes 4: Sound of Muzak 5: Interview 6: Gravity Eyelids 7: Wedding Nails 8: Interview 9: Heartattack In A Layby 10: Even Less 11: Slave Called Shiver 12: Interview 13: Strip The Soul 14: Tinto Brass 15: Outro The second broadcast, a week later, was acoustic - just SW & John Wesley playing three songs (two are acoustic versions of 'In Absentia' tracks), interspersed by the same interview as before, but in full. 12/11/02 XM Studios, Washington DC. USA Digital Radio A+ 18 Acoustic set; SW & Wes. B.cast on 'XM Cafe'. 1: Interview 2: Pure Narcotic 3: The Sound Of Muzak 4: Interview 5: Prodigal
