Notes: | Neil Young in Amsterdam December 9-10, 1989 (DVD PAL) Interview and live footage as taken from three different Dutch VPRO TV broadcasts (dates listed below). All taken from my own VHS PAL video tapes, which were all taped straight from the original TV broadcasts. No info or specs on which VCR was used back then. Transferred to DVD+R with my standalone DVD-recorder (Philips DVDR 3430V) in April 2007. Ripped onto the PC with DVD Decrypter, compiled (cut and paste) with Cuttermaran 1.68a, and authored with DVDAuthorGUI 1.008b (no menu, but with chapter marks). I still have to figure out how to make a screen capture, but the quality is very good I think, especially for video recordings this age.

Notes: | Notes: This version of one of the most legendary acoustic concerts by Neil Young is a merging of two sources. At first, the well known "Amsterdam '89" Boot (Swingin' Pig) from which come 15 tracks in nearly perfect sound quality. Unfortunately this boot is missing two tracks, "No More" and "Fuckin' Up". These two tracks and a talking snippet between "Crime In The City" and " Eldorado" come from the best source that I could find. Both tracks and the snippet were amplified, equalized and spliced-in on the right place. The now complete concert was now splitted into 2 discs.

Notes: | Notes: I saw this show was on the tracker recently, from a boot sourced from the FM broadcast with the missing two tracks spliced in from an audience tape. It reminded me that I had a more complete and (in my opinion) superior sounding soundboard version of this show in my archives. It is sourced from the pre-FM soundboard tapes with the lineage Soundboard tape>Cassette (1gen)>DAT>Hard Disk (via SPDIF)>Cool Edit 2000 (Resample to 44.1kHz)>CDR It INCLUDES the track Fuckin' Up which was not broadcast. Unfortunately the track No More is still missing - it faded out on the DAT after a couple of seconds. I removed this snippet and some of the inter-track silence to fit the show on one 80min CDR - they were still expensive when I transferred this show!

Notes: | My copy is off Radio Netherlands (or a local station there). I removed the talking. I got this in a trade many years ago so I have no idea what the generation is. There is a little FM noise but only in real quiet spots. Its a good listen if you don't already have it. Source: XLII90>Sony TC-W370>iMac>Audacity>xACT>Vuze

Notes: | From The Dutch Masters Archives: One of my first recordings: an analog master which was transfered to DAT a few years ago and not used/played since. I don't think there are many audience recordings in circulation as almost the entire show has been broadcasted on Dutch FM radio and is available as bootleg CD. Also parts were filmed and broadcasted on Dutch TV (VPRO) Recorded from the first row on the balcony. Source: Sony type ECM 121 microphone + Sony WMD3 on Maxell XLIIS cassette transfer to DAT: Nakamichi CassetteDeck 2 > Sony ZA5ES. Transfer: Sony ZA5ES> optical cable > Creative Soundblaster Audigy soundcard > Soundforge 4.5 + SEKD Red Roaster (fading, removal of some clapping, volume boost + sonic Maximizer) The sound is good.
