Turn Into Notes: I was in a unique position for taping this show. This was part of Download Festival 2007's stop in Mansfield, MA. At this point in the festival, the four bands who played outside in the parking lot were done, and it was time for all the concert-goers to move into the pavillion for the final four groups. Mostly everybody moved into the GA pit which was right in front of the stage, so thousands of seats all over the half-indoor, half-outdoor ampitheater were up for grabs. So I decided to hike up a few rows from the bottom, and seat myself a couple rows in front of the soundboard and dead center to get the best mix possible for this recording. To add to my ideal physical position for taping was the fact that there were no audience members within about 35 yards of me; there is virtually no audience noise to deal with on this recording, which made me very happy, as I usually have to throw a digital compressor on folks yelling right near my mics. All you can hear is pretty faint applause at the end of each song. Post-recording touch-ups included just some EQ and a 96% normalization job. I guarantee you will love this tape.
