Notes: | 234 MB, 42:56. There's some distortion for the first minute, then it sounds fine. |

The recording was originally made off FM radio but unlike many FM recordings of the time, lacks a lot of distortion and noise evident in many of these typical post-broadcast tapes. This is because the FM signal was recorded on a 7.5 ips reel which allowed for a more true replication of the compressed shortwave source. Obviously, the frequency range has been compressed for FM broadcast, but you can thank the original taper that this compression was added upon as little as possible by making the original transmission recording on a fine format such as a 7.5 ips reel. As is stated in the original torrent info, there is obvious mixing flaws during the first track due to the show mixer, be it the front of house guy, or the radio recording mixer adjusting mix settings to obtain the sound he will maintain for the remainder of the performance. Thankfully, most of these obtuse flucuations are relegated to the first track, after which, the sound adjustments are relatively few and small in nature. Although the original recording from the reel source is very nice, it had some problems, such as distortion and boominess in the low-mid register, which I have attempted to remedy as carefully as possible. There is also a slight variation in overall amplitude of the recording in the transition between some tracks. This inbalance has been corrected as I saw fit. What remains is, in my opinion, a much more balanced and overall cleaner and clearer recording which is superior to the original transfer and upload. All credit, however, should be given to the original taper and transferrer of this source, allsoundz, and shacklyn75, for his original work and upload which brought this great document of an artist in his prime to the light of day. Thank you very much to those involved and I hope this remaster will be enjoyed throughout the Elvis Costello fan community. I have also included artwork made by Colinb9 uploaded by him on the original torrent page as well as alternate artwork that I found for this show. It matches the tracklisting and date & venue, hence its inclusion. I do not know who created it or if it came from a commercial bootleg but whoever you are, thank you! Enjoy Elvis C at his best! upped by: theface07 [email protected] | |||||
