Notes: Recording Information ::: unknown Sony(?) stereo cassette recorder with unknown microphones -> master stereo AUD cassette tape, no noise reduction. Playback early 1970's by taper (equipment type unknown) ::: master stereo AUD cassette tape, no noise reduction, azimuth adjusted -> 1st generation reel-to-reel tape. Playback circa 2005 (equipment type unknown) ::: 1st generation reel-to-reel tape, azimuth adjusted -> to DVD audio @48KHz (wavs). Remastered 2013-01/02 ::: de-flac'd 48KHz wavs of 1st gen tape remastered as follows: NO equalisation! Normalised to remove DC offset. Fixed left channel offset on both sides of tape(s). Adjusted pitch (-.65). Most dropouts & dull spots fixed but surely missed some & a few were only partially repairable. Dropouts were a bit had to catch with the nature of the overall sound, so I certainly did not get them all. Most are fixable by volume increases right on the dropout (dull spot). There were actually a couple of wonderful minutes in a row at one point where I didn't find any! The tape had significantly less volume adjustments by taper than early show (or mikes were more consistantly pointed stageward), which made for an easier mastering job. There is some kind of noise at times, visible on the wav form & repeated often enough to perhaps be a slightly warped tape roller issue, mostly in the left channel, which was not fixable without too much work. A glitch in "Low Spark" could be a tape splice. The stereo signal is significantly altered several times in the same song & once or twice elsewhere. I would have said it was from muffling one mike but it happens too quickly. No idea. Compensated for it somewhat with a bit of volume. I cut out about a minute of audience noise before the encore. Some clapping during "Gimme Some Lovin'". There's a bit of high end or volume fluctuation from mike motion and/or tape aging issues, not really a problem, more noticeable on headphones. Boosted total levels (transfer levels somewhat low). Downsampled from 48KHz to 44.1KHz. -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears Estimated early show total mastering time 14 hours. First uploaded week of 2013-02-09. Estimated early show total mastering time 14 hours. First uploaded week of 2013-02-09.
