Notes: Spectacularly good gig, diasppointingly sub-par recording with some distortion, so only recommended this if you were there or a big YYY fan. I stood at the same location for White Lies at the weekend and just about got away without any significant bass distortion. I got a brilliant view at the YYY, loved the gig, but could tell it was a lot louder, particularly the bass drum. So it was no great suprise when I listened back to it and the bass drum was badly distorted. These CA14 omnis seem to cope far worse in high dB environments than the CA11 cards which I used previously, which were very forgiving (I've got a replacement pair on the way). I think I've got to accept that to use the CA14 omnis I must stand further back, as I've had a few disasters recently with these mics, but that goes against the grain for me as I like to be at the front. But the slightly better news is that I found by severly chopping off the low end it actually became listenable, so thought itwas worth putting up. But please listen to the mp3 samples so you know what you are getting. This was the 3rd time I'd seen the YYY, last time at the old Brum Academy in 2006 and previously at the Kentish Town forum (2004?). I taped the Brum 2006 show which I posted at the time, but have never heard the forum show, which was one of the most memorable gigs I've been to, so if anyone has a recording please stick it up. Camera phone photo and ticket scan included. Upload will be slow till midnight UK time due to ISP throttling. Finally, if anyone who know what they are doing would like a go at improving this, PM me and I'll happily send you the raw file.
