This is I think because the frame size broadcast by BBCi is not one of the DVD standard ones. It plays fine in my standalone DVD player (a Sony) and should do in most others. However, note that a few of people have reported various problems playing these DVDs( 2 people in Phillips players), presumeably due to the non-DVD compliant resolution, so I strongly recommend burning to a DVD(-RW/+RW) to test it out.
