I loved the Pasties album and so I borrowed John Musgrave's equipment so I could capture a live version. The whole works with deck and microphones + cables fit into a small suitcase that looked like an instrument case. Either way nobody really cared about the equipment and I set up on the little table about 15 feet from the stage. A customer of the record store where I worked (Slipped Disc Records) came along to help out. Of course the required warning about being discrete was passed on and the recording went without a hitch. After the show I packed everything back into the case and we went over to the stairs that led Up to the band room. The guard didn't question us and we went up and there were maybe 50 people buzzing about. We spot Tom and walk over to say hi and my friend Jack immediately blurts out "Tom we got a great tape of the show". Tom responds that his manager would want to know about that and I really didn't hear any more as I was quickly backing out of that room. I was out of that place and down the street getting into my car in a flash. Didn't see Jack for some time but found out that nothing happened. So things turned out fine and here we are with a funny story to tell.
