Seed Notes:
The first thing most people will notice is that the mic info is lacking somewhat.
The tapes came to me labeled exactly as shown above. I'm not sure if it's supposed
to read KM254, KM184, KM140... etc... there is no model of Neumann's that I could
find that can run as (or be abbreviated as) a straight "KM4", so apparently the
source info for this tape was mis-documented somewhere. If you can provide more
info about this one, please email me -
[email protected] - regardless, it's a
very nice sounding tape.
In addition, this recording isn't *quite* perfect, but it comes very close!
There are 2 large dropouts that I verified were on the tapes too:
- during the Blackberry Blossom jam.
- during the Drums > Didg jam.
For the BBB jam, I faded out and back in around the dropout, and cut the silence down to
a split second. You'll definitely notice it, but it's brief and not too bad anymore.
For the Drums dropout, I just cut it right out, and blended it in with the rhythm of
the jam. If you can find it, you have some sharp ears!
I justify spreading this one with the issues above because it sounds really nice,
because the San Jose with all the guests is incredible, and because the show isn't
spread very wide right now. Despite the issues, I'm sure many folks will enjoy it
as is. Hopefully someday a more complete copy will surface to replace this one. Or,
if someone can offer me a copy of BBB and Drums without dropouts, I will patch them
instead.

The following processing was applied to the master wave file prior to splitting it
up into tracks. All of the below were performed using SF 6.0.
1. DC Offset Removal (automatic detect and remove).
2. Peak Normalization to -0.3 dB (reduce clipping, remove transients)
3. 48 > 44.1 Resample (Anti Alias Filter, Interpolation Accuracy 4/4).
4. Highpass Triangular Dithering with Highpass Contour Noise Shaping.
5. Beginning and End of set fades.
