Notes: | oktava skankweed - sound quality similar to 7/5/02 from this source. Set 1 has good versions of Cumberland, China Cat. Set 2 solid throughout with the Jam > Leave Me .. > Terrapin portion containing the most intersting playing for me.

Notes: | purported sbd - My vote says this is for "in effect" an aud, where the mics are very close to the PA or pointed at the PA so you get no crowd or spatial sense to the music. The vocals are the key here - they "come from" the same place as the music and sound a bit hazy, while in normal boards the vocals seem to originate from "all over" and are clearer than on this tape. If it is a board then the mix isn't that good (tap of the PA feed) and it might as well be an aud! The show itself has some strong points, with some hot jams, but suffers from placement of slow songs in key places. On 4/1/03 when I listened to this I still find the newer songs (set 1 Celebration and No More Do I) are too "mainstream rock-like" for them to displace my preference for the standard Dead tunes, with the exception of "Leave Me Out of This" which is the best of the new batch and rightfully belongs in the set 2 spot reserved for hot songs. The UC encore I thought dampened the show's energy too much, with Phil's vocals sounding weak and the "contrived" nature of the tune doesn't fit well as the last song of the show. It just drags too much if I tried to be blunt. No significant flaws worth noting. Summary - I would seek out an aud with more ambience perhaps, but don't feel you need to have this "sbd" because the performance and the sound-mix aren't that compelling.
