Notes: This is a 3-camera shoot from the 8/6/03 radio broadcast recording, in Windows Media Video format. It's a bit dark, particularly on George's side of the stage, but overall a fun viewing on your PC.... Beware that the credits rolled prematurely before the encore break, so be sure to stick around for the encore! I should confess that the reason the lighting on George is so dark is partly my fault! You see, when we have bands play at our school for radio broadcasts (Phil, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, P-Funk have all been there in the last year), the students are actually put to work helping set up the show and, in some cases, run the lights & sound. Anyway, I petitioned early on to do lights when Panic came, and they let me do them. I was stoked! ... we have a small laser-ish, moving-lights setup in the performance space, and I was primed to bust a move on the light boards. Unfortunately, the stationary lights -- which are intended to help out with the video image -- were not adjusted properly by my student crew, and I didn't notice til the show had already started that George had moved his chair a few feet from where the lights were originally aimed. Woops. I tried, in vain mostly, to swirl some laser lights on him, and it looked fine in the room, but on video (and subsequent conversion to WMV) it basically looks PITCH BLACK on any closeup of George. So, be warned.... otherwise it's a great production with lots of nice closeups, especially of JB (but sadly little focus on the lighting designs I had on either side of the stage). Lastly, please note that the band doesn't come out on stage til about 4 minutes into the video. There are a bunch of stupid school and radio announcements here, that fortunately weren't inlcuded in the FLAC audio version.

The live performance space, called Meyer Hall, is where the band set up, and the stage directly feeds the many recording consoles & studios throughout the school. The show was multi-tracked to digital Hi-8 tapes via a Neve VR recording console (juicy pre's!), as opposed to flowing through the front-of-house soundboard. The Hi-8's were later transferred to ProTools where the final mix for the radio broadcast was done. All multi-tracks and protools files were subsequently destroyed so the CD for radio broadcast was the best I could get my hands on, thus the necessary EAC step. The quality is simply amazing. Thanks to all involved.
