Notes: Hopkins aud & 4th show after hiatus. The "new" Dead - going after perfection. Great sound. Mission in the Rain. Very good show, well worth a few listens. Lots of spunk in their playin, good segues and singing. Good aud tape. [Note: I created a shn set w/ de-emphasis. This seemed to match the spectral sound other auds sourced around 6/2003 direct from the master cassettes, suggesting that Dolby might have been used on the originals but not decoded in the transfer to DAT.]

Notes: sbd - brief gap/cut in Lightnin' and Might As Well. See other listener comments for flaws. Sound and mix are very good. Set 1 very professionally played, if somewhat boring. Didn't leave me wanting to leave it in the player for a repeat. I'd say the main flaw with this recording are the gaps/cuts noted by other listeners. Just enough of these to be a speed bump in my listening enjoyment. I'm also not a big "Let It Grow" fan. Set 2 is chopped up into 3 segments and doesn't have the cohesion of the gd at their best.
Matt Vernon (1/4.8) SHN / 3 A- B+ View 18425
Notes: Jerry Moore recording with the best room ambiance of the 3 auds I have heard for this date (most likely the mics) but it also has some volume flucuations on some songs on the right channel that produces a noticeable 3 second periodic panning. This is a solid show from June 76.
Matt Vernon (1/4.8) SHN / 3 A- A- View 18426
Notes: Jimmy Warburton recording - maybe the best aud overall. Nice sound without the volume fluctuations that Moore's recording has on a few songs.

Notes: Matrix by Kevin Tobin [2007-07-06]sbd fans will probably want this version that has the authentic reverb from the aud. The show has a long 1st set. Franklin's and Dancin provide a rhythmic flavor to set 2 with a "space jam" in PITB. A nice show to listen to when you aren't looking for something too exciting and energetic.

Notes: sbd GEMS [2007-05-12] This differs from the prior sources per info file as follows: "This source merits circulation because the sonic structure of these waves is markedly better than what circulates. each previously circulating soundboard source was "clipped", ...there are 3 patches on this source not applied on any other circulating source...there also exists a little bit more tuning between Row Jimmy and Big River, this source seems to run just a little bit closer to "correct" speed than any of the others. " This performance suffers from the show being a collection of independent tunes and hence lacks the extra special synergy that comes from interesting segues or song linkages. Set 2 has a H>S>F, a LIG and a PITB all with tuning breaks. The PITB has a spacey jam. The playing itself is very tight and professional, just lacking something that would keep it lodged in my cd player. Some people complain about Jerry being low in the mix, others say its fine.
