Notes: | sbd [2007-09-30]I think this is the last 1970 show I listened to. The whole night is more or less here, complete with acoustic and NRPS sets. the acoustic and NRPS stand out as above average, and teh traditional gd electric sets give you a nice Cryptical and Dark Star, though the energy and freshness comes across better on the NRPS and acoustic sets than gd electric. The Cryptical Suite seems more together than the Dark Star (which after such a long show the band's energy might have been depleted). Very good sound, with only flaw being a cut in St Stephen set 2. Worth a listen though can't say that I'd put it in my top 5 of the year because there are better gd electric sets this year. Here are positive comments from the LMA "You get an unbelievable personalized introduction, tons of hillarious side talking, plus pigpen solo performances, some of the best renditions of accoustic and electric dead tunes ever and you get a couple of nrps sets mixed in there too!! this sounds like an album. straight-up roots. this show makes one realize how truly underrated new riders of the purple sage are. this will give you full insight as to what these guys were trying to do with american trad (the dead and nrps collectively). plus it fuckin blazes. jerry's pedal steel playing is unreal. This is without a doubt the ultimate show of all time 100%!! I couldn't be more serious.... Jerry's stuff with the New Riders is as tasty as sweet sorghum syrup on hot buttered corncakes cooked on a wood stove, eaten on the porch, sun rising on a chilly spring morning!...I give this a four-star rating because it's NOT the "ultimate" 1970 show. There is some mediocrity here - for example, other than that magnificent "Friend Of The Devil" the second acoustic set is forgettable - which knocks away a star. Also, there aren't any true WOW-I-CAN'T-BELIEVE-THEY-PLAYED-THAT moments"

Notes: | acoustic and electric, early and late, includes NRPS; MR > DAT > ZA2 > CDR, except the NRPS sets which have 2 cass gens; this is apparently the best possible available copy- one fewer cass gen than first etreed version, complete NRPS 2nd set, less hifreq hiss; more details in info file; via D. Hollister, J. Tiedrich, D. Finney. L. Orf; note L. Orf did very minor editing, mostly putting tasteful fades where there were cuts in the original- no NR
