"Mayonaise Dream Liberated Bootleg" CD Silver > EAC (Secure) > mkw > SHN |
Notes: |
Well we certainly didn't expect to see the Smashing Pumpkins reach 1994.
With the release of their Siamese Dream album came wave after wave of rumors
that the band were ready to call it a day and were falling apart at the
seams. Tales of constant rows, damaged relationships and bruised egos
abounded. It looked like all four members were pulling in opposite directions.
Sure, the music fed off the resulting turmoil, but it would have been a
great pity to see the sudden demise of one of the most innovative groups
of the nineties. The root of the problems appear to have been when the
band were suddenly faced with the chance to leap across the great divide
between underground cult status and the overground mainstream. A great
secret can only be hidden for so long and the time is right to share it
with the masses. Already in 1994 the Pumpkins have pencilled in tours of
Japan and Australia, as well as a quick return to Europe, and some rumoured
guest support slots with the mighty Meat Loaf. Now thats what I call bridging
the gap! No longer falling apart, but held together in an iron grip, Smashing
Pumpkins are set on full steam ahead to wipe the floor with the opposition
in 1994. |
