| Notes: | sbd - I listened to this near the end of my 79 binge. Unlike the review in the TC that disses the first set, I liked it for its mix of not so commonly played Garcia tunes. Dire Wolf, BEW, Its All Over Now and DEMI. Garcia's playing was fun though I wouldn't cal it transcendental. The set closes with a rockin' Sailor > Saint. The China > Rider to open set 2 is ok, but the rest are uneventful until PITB where again Garcia is doing some very interesting leads. There is a motorcycle sound in the Drums section. This is a slightly above average 79 show with a good sbd mix. The NFA is very good (see my reveiw of the aud) and the Stella Blue comes across very well on this sbd. Summary - This is a better show than desribed in the TC. Jerry's playing is strong throughout. Worth hearing. | |||||
