Learn All You Should Know

A slightly better recording than most from the tour, but a good deal of the show is unfortunately missing. The string of pre-Tommy numbers are all outstanding Townshend's long 'Heaven and Hell' solo has to be one of the best, despite a guitar dropout; later 'Young Man Blues' has a biting political reference from Daltrey at the end, prompting Townshend to ask "Don't you wish you had a nice, friendly Queen?" He later mentions how badly their recent recording sessions have gone before a typically staggering jam in 'Water' and the contrasting 'I Don?t Even Know Myself'. The unaccompanied 'It's a Boy' guitar passage is very long here and the remaining Tommy songs are all performed well, but a substantial part of the rock opera is cut here. A bombastic end to 'Shakin' All Over' signals the end of the recording, and 'My Generation' is absent.
