Notes: This is fun stuff. First, these are demos for "The Eternal Idol" album featuring Ray Gillen on vox; however, his voice never made it on the final pressing as Tony Martin came in and re-recorded everything with his vocals. Second, the bass player for these sessions is anyone's guess at this point -- Bob Daisley and Dave "The Beast" Spitz are both credited on the album, but only Bob actually played. To muddy it up further, neither guy toured with the band (those chores were handled by the incomparable Jo Burt) and an unknown appears playing bass in the video for "The Shining". Third, the drummer. Eric Singer plays drums on the final product, Bev Bevan (formerly of ELO(!)) gets credit for percussion, neither guy toured and left the skin-pounding to Terry Chimes. Who's on the demo is another mystery. One thing is for certain: Tony Iommi plays on the demo, the album, the video, and the tour. What a confusing time for "Sabbath". Oh, yeah, by the way, there's a little lite noise in the mix but nothing too bad. The first 8 tracks are the demo and tracks 9-14 are from a San Antonio gig (with one pop after T9). Whew! Thank you for indulging me. (I know etree's gonna limit the size of my notes one day....)
