Other artists on bill: Chuck Berry; Curly Cook's Hurdy-Gurdy Band; note old listing from Deadbase had previously listed for this date: New Potato Caboose, Alligator-> Drums-> Alligator-> Caution (Do Not Stop on Tracks); setlist above is from deadlists.com, updated here 3/03- they comment that "set 2" material is likely from separate unknown date

CRYPTICAL ENVELOPMENT> THE OTHER ONE> CRYPTICAL REPRISE> 10:22 2.DARK STAR> 8:54 3.CHINA CAT SUNFLOWER> 7:24 4.THE ELEVEN> 7:26 5.LOVELIGHT 12:17 Set II: 6.BORN CROSSED-EYED> 2:22 7.FEEDBACK> SPANISH JAM/ 9:47 total time: 58:36 Known flaws: some transitions have flaws - some occasional diginoise. sound is poor until 0:56 in track one when levels rise (mics repositoned) sound again vastly improves at 1:21 in track one, and subsequently until 4:01 as Bobby sings the first verse of the Other One the listener realizes this is a GREAT sounding audience : Voices are high in the mix - the drums sound GREAT - the high end of the cymbals, bass drums, toms and snares all represented - guitars sharp, clear and crisp; the bass is a bit booming or rumbling - unclarified however. You can hear the sound echoing off the walls of the room - giving this recording a great sense of space. Garcia's playing during this set, especially in China Cat, is incredible. It appears that the taper was able to AGAIN reposition themselves, in the break between the first and second sets, this time much closer to the stage; because when Born Crossed-Eyed loudly explodes into existance the recording is easily mistaken for a soundboard. Incredible sound for an audience recording from 1968! It is not until the quieter parts of the Spanish Jam when there is clearly audience noise again. I have tacked onto the end of this disc: Vault Reel labeled unknown 1968: GREAT soundboardMR>? 8./Drums> 1:29 9.Pre-Caution Jam/ 14:00 a mind-boggling peice of music - some of Garcia's best playing

Notes: --this is a well made audience recording, and is often mistaken as a SBD --a large dropout near the beginning of Lovelight was subdued using Sound Forge. --only the first couple seconds of Born Cross Eyed are missing. --a second Lovelight, BIODTL, and Dancin' In The Streets often circulate with this set, though they are likely to be from a different show. --there may be other missing songs as well.
