Notes: Birdland All-Stars (W/ Miles Davis) 11-02-1956 Salle Pleyel Paris, France Project ID - LL29 Source: FM Broadcast Lineage: ORTF radio broadcast > ?? > unknown transfer(s)>wav>??>shn Miles Davis (tpt); Lester Young (ts);René Urtreger (p); Pierre Michelot (b); Christian Garros (d) disc 1 d1t01. Lady Be Good ------------------------------------------------------- Notes: - One of the few surviving fragments of the Birdland All-Stars 23 show tour of Europe in November 1956. This recording suffers from Significant line hum and hiss, but is still a worthy recording featuring a lively performance by Miles Davis. The line hum exists both of two different sources obtained for this show. - The Birdland All-Stars also featured the great Lester Young, who was enjoying a brief comeback after a hospital stay in November 1955. However, his health was still poor, reportedly due to liver disease and malnutrition, which would contribute to his passing away less than three years from the date of this show. - QC done by guygee md5 a4224314f4c1f71080f2108284d0e40e *md1956-11-02.LL29.d1t01.flac ffp md1956-11-02.LL29.d1t01.flac:5cdd25ed8154d19d374606599e24c986 st5 5cdd25ed8154d19d374606599e24c986 [shntool] md1956-11-02.LL29.d1t01.flac shntool length expanded size cdr WAVE problems filename 7:10.36 75936716 --- -- ---xx md1956-11-02.LL29.d1t01.flac 7:10.36 75936716 B (total for 1 file, 0.5826 overall compression ratio) spectral analysis from TLH md1956-11-02.LL29.d1t01.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 100%
