Notes: Wolfmother are an Australian band from Erskineville, a suburb of Sydney. The band consists of Andrew Stockdale (Vocals/Guitar), Chris Ross (Bass/Keyboards) and Myles Heskett (Drums). Their music is often described as "retro-rock" and is inspired by such grand stoner or psychedelic rock acts of the 1970s as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple. In 2004, Wolfmother began appearing at several high profile music events, such as Homebake (this show is a Homebake appearance) and the Big Day Out. Wolfmother won the 2005 J Award, an award handed out by the Australian youth radio network Triple J for the best Australian album of the year. In 2006 the band performed at the Austin, Texas SXSW festival in March and Coachella in April where they were commonly cited as the 'breakout' band of the year. In April of 2006, their song "Love Train" was featured on a psychedelia-tinged TV advertisement for the Apple iPod. Rolling Stone magazine listed Wolfmother as one of their "Top 10 Bands to Watch in 2006." This show is a nice introduction to this interesting trio from Down Under. Thanks Graham!
