The Review: A special thanks to Stephan for going to this show with me. We got to our seats a song or so into EITS's set. Show started earlier
than I realized but EITS were really bad, in my opinion. Between the two of us, we had three audio rigs going and on video rig. The Pumpkins came
out shortly before 9:30 opening with United States, which I think is a pretty rocking opener. They played a pretty solid non-stop set with a little
bit of witty banter here and there. Over all, I think the set list was OK. I was really hoping for Starla or Gossamer, but I will not complain. It
had been eleven years since I had last seen the Pumpkins and I was really not familiar with much of the material, so it was quite fun listening to
many of these songs for the first time. It was nice to hear a few `golden oldies' off of the S.D. album (but no Gish alas). The set itself was a
little shorter than I had hoped. If you remove all the banter and encore break, it almost becomes a 105 minute show. All in all, we got three
decent audio recordings and a nice video recording (Stephan did all the hard work on that one).
The Recording: The recording came out decent, sounds a little distant but I will not complain. I faded out the beginning of the encore break on
track 20 after Heavy Metal Machine was over. I had to start a new track at that point or my MicroTrack 24/96 was going to start a new one for me.
I kept all of the encore break in the recording as well, which starts on track 21 with a fade in. Billy does a small amount of talking at the end
of the outtro track so I decided to leave that in as well. Over all, the recording is decent. I am sure there are several out there better than
mine, but hey, this is ok. |
