Master Reel-to-Reel>2cdr(3)>wav(raw untracked reel sides)>wav(speed corrected/tracked... |
Notes: |
Direct transfer from master reels, raw untracked reel sides. Each wav file was speed corrected and tracked afterwards. Wav files were speed corrected -5.9% using audacity. The recording is still poor to fair but is the best sounding version available and a major upgrade to previous circulated copies sourced from analog sources no lower than 4th gens. CDR copy used here is courtesy of Blackmikito. |

"Bristol Bombers" (A Group/Personal Project) |
Notes: |
This project was a bit of a difficult tape to work with, it was hard trying to find a balance in the instruments without making one instrument or musician dominate over the others, but we do hope that everyone here enjoys what we've done to the tape.
It was also quite hard to work with because the tape suffers from periods of distortion in the channels due to Jimmy's guitar work, it's slightly peaking, it was hard trying to balance the instruments, create an ambiant sound to the recording, and try to buffer out some of the distortion in the recording, we did the best we could, and we hope that everyone here likes what we've done.
So to summerize, we've done the following things to make this project:
- We've tried to bring out things that were missing in the raw recording (low end), and have tried to balance the instruments as best we can.
- We've tried to reduce some of the distortion in the channels as best we could.
- We've tried to bring out as much of a feeling of ambiance as best we could.
- We've tried to bring out things that were buried under the raw recording (clapping, cheering, commentary) as best we could.
- We've tried to reduce as much tape hiss as possible.
- We've given the recording a gentle volume boost, I apologize if the volume is a little low in the mix, we tried to make the recording a little louder but that made it run a little hot, and caused distortion, so we figured the best thing to do was to give it a lighter touch than a heavy handed one. |
