Notes: transfer: Super Beta Hi-Fi tape > Sony SL-HF450 > Sony DVMC-DA2 Media Converter > Apple Macintosh Final Cut Pro (minor "nip and tuck" edits, filter to replace bottom of screen "head switch jitter" with black and chaptering) > Compressor > DVD Studio Pro (menu and authoring) > VIDEO_TS file set. Audio post capture processing in Pro Tools (DC offset and normalization plus a few clicks seamlessly removed). Audio placed back into Final Cut Pro before Compressor down-sampling. Video: NTSC 720x480 VBR 7.7 Mbps peak, 6.2 Mbps average data rate, 2-pass. Audio - choice of: Dolby Digital 2/0 (L,R), 48 kHz sample rate, 448 kbps data rate or: Linear PCM (2 channel 48kHz 16 bit). (The audio is dual monophonic TV audio).

Notes: Jerry Garcia interviewed by Nina Blackwood of MTV MTV Studios, New York City, USA unedited pre-broadcast copy After two other Jerry Garcia interviews were recently seeded, I thought I'd pull this one out and see how it compared. It's more structured than the earlier interviews done by Deadheads, but the questions and answers are still good and the bonus of having it on video is terrific. Of course, unlike the other interviews, the MTV format did not allow for drugs to be consumed during the questioning... I don't know how much this content has previously circulated. It's the first transfer from my unknown lineage Super Beta Hi-Fi tape. Decent video and audio quality, though the video signal is a bit fuzzy looking and fluctuates in a few spots. I find it quite enjoyable to watch and certainly good enough quality for an interview video. Check the samples to get an idea for yourself. Chaptered with selection menu: 1. pre-interview 2.
