Notes: sbd - pitch corrected cotsman [2006-04-10] This is an amusing show. It starts with a solid Morning Dew, then the 1st part of the Yellow Dog Story is attempted only this time Pigpen and other band members pre-empt Bobby's lines. Garcia asks if this is the school's spring dance, after which they launch into the appropriate Good Morning Little Schoolgirl as perhaps the band eyes some of the coeds in the audience. Then Bobby attempts to complete the Yellow Dog Story (part two), but is again thwarted by Pigpen. The version of He Was A Friend Of Mine is very nice and IMO its a shame this was dropped from their repertoire. The set ends with a nice Cryptical Envelopment, The Other One. Set 2 starts with a very good Dark Star. Most of the April versions of this song are must hear's, generally played up tempo but all a unique in their own way. SS has someone playing a series of off key notes before they launch into a standard 11 for the era and finish up with a Lovelight > Feedback. Lovelight is hilarious as now its Phil's turn to ask Pigpen to tell the fellas what to do with their hands and pre-empt his spiel. Garcia adds some tasty slide at this point. Judging by the snappiness of the playing and the comments, I infer the band is having a good time. Mix and sound are good. Definitely check out the Dark Star and He Was A Friend of Mine on this one.
