Notes: Bob Marley and The Wailers July 18, 1978 Late Show Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium Santa Cruz, California Audience cassette master. Sound quality is fairly decent, though there are some rough spots in the first couple of songs. Part of track 2 has a bad channel so the good channel is pasted into the other with the differences made less noticeable by panning gradually from stereo to mono and back. There is also someone playing some stupid whistle in the audience that gets picked up for some of track 2 until I could move away from that idiot. While moving the stereo image remained OK by keeping the mics pointed correctly, but by the time I stopped moving forward the bass and midrange sound pressure levels were a bit overloaded so the rest of the show sounds good but not great. Audience noise was no longer a problem with the music so loud and there are no cut songs so overall this probably rates as way better than average for Marley audience recordings. Please check the samples to judge the sound quality for yourself. disc 1: 38:37 01 [05:27] Positive Vibration 02 [03:54] Them Belly Full 03 [06:50] Lively Up Yourself 04 [05:14] Rebel Music 05 [05:19] Heathen 06 [03:07] War 07 [01:44] > No More Trouble 08 [03:39] Running Away 09 [03:23] > Crazy Baldheads disc 2: 41:37 01 [04:43] Crisis 02 [04:32] I Shot The Sheriff 03 [07:57] No Woman No Cry 04 [07:16] Jammin' 05 [00:20] announcer and crowd before encore encore: 06 [03:19] Easy Skanking 07 [04:10] > Get Up Stand Up 08 [09:15] > Exodus 09 [00:05] announcer final thanks and crowd ElectroVoice RE10 microphones > Dolby B encoded Maxell UDXLI C90 tape > Nakamichi 350 cassette master. Transfer: Nakamichi Dragon (Dolby B decoded) > Pro Tools (normalization, minor "nip and tuck" edits & tracking) > AIFF > xACT (FLAC level 8 files with sector boundaries verified). md5 file created with checkSUM+. The show is only 15 seconds over 80 minutes but no editing was done to get this to fit on one disc. There really wasn't any extra space because the master had already been paused during the encore applause break. Transitions have been smoothed out to be as seamless as possible and you may have to listen closely on headphones to find any of them... No EQ was done in the mastering process. Enjoy & Share!
