This is the correct date for the show that's often mislabeled 12/73 KSAN radio broadcast - the air date was 12/02/73 but it was recorded on 10/31/73. This was recorded shortly after the Wailers were kicked off the Sly & The Family Stone tour for actually drawing more attention than Sly. They were stranded and the K-SAN station booked them at the Matrix Club as well as giving them this Radio time.

Lineup: Bob Marley: Guitar and Vocals
Peter Tosh: Rhythm Guitar and Vocal
Earl 'Wire' Lindo: Keyboards
Aston 'Family Man' Barrett: Bass
Carlton Barrett: Drums

"Walk The Proud Land" is the same song as "Rude Boy", with slightly different text written by Bunny Wailer, but here Bob is singing his lyrics version, so it's called "Rude Boy". After "Rastaman Chant" there's the instrumental jam of "Keep The Faith".

Outtro Total Time: 52 minutes Peter Tosh (rhythm guitar/vocal) Earl 'Wire' Lindo (keyboards) Aston 'Family Man' Barrett (bass) Carlton Barrett (drums) ------------------------------------------------------ Addendum - 4/00 |3ill|3o ------------------------------------------------------ I changed the date from 12-02 to 10-31 based on the below info: on questioning whether this had been released officially --> ------------------------------------------------------ > 73-12-02 (SHN, 1CD) > > The person who sent said: this "sounded just like the "Talkin' > Blues" cd, so I went to my cd collection, pulled the disc and > sure enough, this is the same recording that was released. Only > thing is that this is straight through, not reshuffled and that > 1975(?) interview is obviously not on the disc." this one is less clear than the other full concerts on whether it should be offered, since it does not completely duplicate an official release but just overlaps for the Talkin Blues cd, the record company took some songs from the above radio show (really 10/31/73) but not all of them, added some other studio outtakes and other live material and then took an interview and went every other track with music and then interview; this mixture of interview with music out of order and from various sources is hard to listen to for the music and is disappointing, while the above shn source is so much better to listen to and a much better tribute to Marley's legacy to me, it is a little similar to a band releasing a live album from the various nights of a tour, which does not necessarily mean one does not trade or host a show of a concert just because a few of that nights songs are on the official released album ------------------------------------------------------ On Fri, 14 Apr 2000 This was a KSAN radio station rebroadcast of a live show broadcast in October of the same year.....Marley was opening for Sly and the Family Stone and was dropped off the tour because he was getting more interest than Sly :-) KSAN asked Marley to come to San Francisco and do some shows at a club in San Francisco....cant remember the name off the top of my head...anyway they broadcast the show over KSAN live....this show was also the first time a bunch of Marleys songs had been played and would come out on a record a few months later. The reason I can give you this info, is because I couldn't figure out why there were 2 shows with exactly the same setlist and the songs sounded the same. I talked to the guy who is the archivist for KSAN...he is responsible for all the old shows on tape....much like Dick did for the Dead. Anyway that is the histor...don't know if it was made as a bootleg. - barb ------------------------------------------------------ Greetings: Yes, 12-2-73 is actually 10-31-73, and several of the tracks would later appear on Talkin' Blues. Regards, - Ross ------------------------------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Apr 2000 08:36:12 -0600 Bill, That 12-2-73, if it is what I think it is, should actually be 10-31-73. I have seen this listed as this date and the Bob Marley page refers to it as October 1973. http://www.bobmarley.com/life/live/ksan/ The above talks about the show and the Talkin Blues' album. Take care, - Jason ------------------------------------------------------
