Paris ?70 is one of the more famous Sabbath films, since is one of the only pro-shot films of the band during the early 70?s. Professionally filmed by a Belgian film crew on 16mm film, this show was later broadcast on TV by Yorkshire and Tyne Tees Television. It was shown in 2-30 minute episodes.

EDIT on Jan 28 2015 - there is a general consensus in the Black Sabbath world that the so called Paris 1970 film is not from The Olympia Theater 12/20/1970 but still as stated above, filmed by a Belgium crew the date is most likely from 1970-10-03 - the venue being Theatre 140 (POPSHOP)- http://www.black-sabbath.com/tourdates/1971tour/

Notes: DV358 Black Sabbath Live in Paris 1970-12-20 A Snivlle Remastered Edition - Rev. III - Corrected Field Order LINEAGE: PAL Broadcast >> BETA MAX (HQ) Master >> SA DVD-R >> DVD Decrypter/ Elementary Streams >> Professional-grade video editing software and filters >> CCE 2.67 SP DVD Authored: Chaptered by song and features a nice motion menu. VIDEO: PAL 25 FPS, MPEG-2 720X576 @ 7990 kbps (Non-interlaced) - Bottom Field First AUDIO: LPCM 16 bit 48,000 hz. @ 1536 Kbps VIDEO QUALITY: (9/10) Digitally restored with Professional-grade software. (A) AUDIO QUALTIY: (9/10) Signal to noise ratio greatly improved with professional-grade audio filters. Greater fidelity and dynamic range. (A) This show was professionally filmed at the Olympia theatre in Paris, France on December *19, 1970. This show is quite rare, and this is one of the best versions of it available. There have been a couple of other versions of this show in circulation that were sourced from 2nd or 3rd Generation VHS copies. This new Snivlle Remastered Edition is sourced from a newly surfaced "BETA Max HQ" transfer. The tape had been recorded when the footage first aired on BBC1 television, over 23 years ago. The concert itself was performed while Sabbath were on tour in Europe, supporting the "new" LP titled, "Paranoid". This release recently underwent the process of being remastered with Pro-grade video editing software. The incredible NeatVideo filter used to denoise and apply high resolution enhancement to the footage. NeatVideo goes far beyond the capabilities of most freely available denoising filters. It uses a series of computationally precise algorithms that enable it to apply 'intelligent sharpening' without inducing any unwanted halo-like effects. The final product does not result in softened imagery. The audio was remastered with Pro-grade audio editing software and a number of Pro-grade, DirectX audio plug-ins. This disc contains a carefully remastered PCM audio mix offering dynamic volume and fidelity. The clarity of the original sound track is greatly improved with an extended frequency response. It retains only a hint of the original tape hiss. The original audio portion of the second broadcast was not as clear as the first. This anomaly has been lessened by a large degree and the remastered sound is now much more uniform across both broadcast segments. The edited footage was then frame-served from within the NLE directly to CCE 2.67 SP and encoded at a very high bitrate of 7990 kbps with advanced vertical filtration and high quantization enabled. Unless you are lucky enough to find a digital transfer or a 1st Gen copy from off of the original broadcaster's reel, I believe that you will find that this version is one of the best. Paris Ô70 is one of the more famous Sabbath films, since is one of the only pro-shot films of the band during the early 70Õs and an excellent one too! Originally filmed on 16mm for the Belgian TV program ÒPop ShopÓ, it was later re-broadcast on British TV by Yorkshire and Tyne Tees Television, where it aired as two, 30 minute episodes. It goes without saying that this is one of the most essential Black Sabbath videos to have in your collection. The performance is top notch and it is the earliest known pro-shot film of the band playing a full concert. Ozzy does sing some different lyrics for many songs and improvises some new ones during ÒHand Of DoomÓ and ÒWar PigsÓ. During ÒWar PigsÓ, he even resorts to the original lyrics for ÒWalpurgisÓ during one verse. Although it wasnÕt uncommon for Ozzy to forget lyrics, I do think it's more likely that the songs were still somewhat new to the band, at this show. SETLIST: Paranoid Hand Of Doom Rat Salad Iron Man Black Sabbath N.I.B. Behind The Wall Of Sleep War Pigs Fairies Wear Boots Conclusion: The extensive digital processing that this show has undergone took it from being a dark, grainy cludge into a pleasantly watchable piece of vintage concert footage. The PC that was used to complete this project is only a 3.06 Ghz. P4 w/ HT and 1 GB of Rambus memory. The video processing, in particular, was very CPU intensive and took a considerable length of time; about 72 hours in total. It is my sincere wish that my all of my fellow traders will enjoy this newly "Remastered Edition". Big thanx to messer19 for making the source available. * Some believe the date is December 20, 1970.
