Notes: Difficult taping conditions; invasive security at every possible stage of the experience. Few cameras made it in, people with cell phones were politely treated as nothing less than potential assassins carrying a contagious disease. The Schnitzer hall rarely has a rock show; the staff are more used to receiving fans of Al Gore, Steely Dan, or Seinfeld. Aggressively invasive, on APC's orders, yet polite. Surreal. Seattle had all of that, minus any notion of politeness. Strange opening act (not taped); Japanese screamo called Red Bacteria Vacuum. Your humble narrator might've preferred Ashes Divide to open the set, most of the band was there for the show already.. 'Apologia' is not a new song:--Billy's guitar cut out at the start of The Outsider, this threw him & Maynard off and they missed the first verse. Jeff, Matt, and the crafty zygote didn't miss a beat, and Maynard/Howerdel recovered by the next verse; Maynard just mocked himself before anybody else got a chance to.
