Notes: | sbd [2007-09-04]Don't know where this little fragment came from - contains Dark Star > Spanish Jam > Lovelight. Has some noticeable digital glitches in Dark Star. Also various other musicians (Green, most of the Allman Bros Band). Continues the tradition of a repetitive jam as the base for everyone to try to contribute something. Mostly a curiosity...

Notes: | partial early and late shows, Master soundboard reels > DAT > CD > Plextor PX-708A extraction (EAC v0.95 prebeta 5) > tracking (CD Wave) > sector boundary verification (shntool v2.0.3) > .flac encoding (flac v1.1.0) Patch for Dark Star: Master audience tape > ? > DAT > CD EAC and FLAC encoding by Jack Warner [2007-09-16]Sound quality is very good including the aud patch - early show fulfills the expectation it is a warm up, the Dark Star in the late show is nice, but the group grope at the end is cluttered and ultimately an unsatisfactory listeing experience.

Notes: | late show conclusion; Soundboard (except misc patches as noted): MSR> DAT> CDR> EAC> FLAC; Patched, remastered by Dave Greenberg; DAE> FLAC by Marc Evans; Project coordinated by Jim Powell with a special thanks to DW [2007-09-16]I gave this an unattentive listen and its equivalent to the material contained on the Warner source (which has more of the show). The LMA is good for some oblique comments "This show is great! I like to listen to Dark Star while I feed my baby jarred baby-food. This Dark Star gets pretty funky, like no other version I've heard before...If I recall (and there may be a reason my recollections are "fuzzy") Jerry came out on stage at the beginning and explained that we would love this band opening for them, the Allman Brothers. I recall being totally blown away. I also recall a long intermission where I saw some Hell's Angels riding their motorcycles in the lobby. If it's the same show it was very long as it was daylight when we left. This show always stayed with me as maybe the best show of the era I have seen. Does anyone know if this is that show?...i'm literally cooking a grilled cheese sandwich over the flames coming out of my speakers!! comes with side of allman brothers and garcia hot sauce!download and inhale before it taken off the menu! mm..mm..mm..gooood!!Unbelieveably, the Dead played the Fillmore East TWICE in the winter of 70,a Jan and Feb run of shows which, in my opinion, may be the best of the entire year. This show is a "dress rehersal" for their monster 2-night stand on the 13th & 14th when they were touring with the Allmans. I was stunned the first time I heard this tape, and it never fails to delight and astound years later. The sheer energy and excitement come thru in every song. Scorching versions of Cumberland, NFA and the Other One. And the Dark Star is just about as perfect as can be, stellar sound quality and great ensemble playing by the guys. The addition of Duane, Greg and Peter Green on the jams and Lovelight really makes this "one of those nights". Even with all the cuts, this show makes my top 5. A show that must be cranked up to be appreciated! Enjoy. Dr. Flashback ;-)"

The other audience master, used to patch the Lovelight, is B+ quality. The second SBD source, supplying the other 3 minutes of the Dark Star missing on the MSR> DAT, is only very mildly inferior to the MSR> DAT source. The third guitarist audible starting about 2:30 into Dark Star and for several minutes thereafter is Peter Green. Duane Allman on slide guitar enters around the middle of Dark Star. Gregg Allman adds organ & vocals during Lovelight, and Barry Oakley plays a second bass on Lovelight. This is an optimal copy of a classic hour of Grateful Dead.
