The SBD is hissy, but the instruments and vocals are quite clear. Band notes - This is from the five-man era for the band: Gregg Allman - vocals, organ Dickey Betts - lead & slide guitars Berry Oakley - bass guitar, vocals Jaimoe - drums, percussion Butch Trucks - drums Great era for the band, as the performances were just so awesome. Ain't Wastin', Stormy Monday, and Whipping Post are fantastic.

Notes: The highest buzz I have ever had at a live concert was the ABB 4/14/72 late show at the Academy of Music. The ABB and NYC always had a special relationship similar to the Dead and Winterland. I consider myself lucky to have seen them live in the early 70's in NYC. For the 4/14/72 late show they started to play at ~3:15AM, finished the set ~6:15AM, and returned for an encore at 6:30AM that lasted until 7:15AM. I remember the sight of all ~50 of the emergency exit doors being opened (in NYC theaters they have these doors spaced every 20 ft or so in the balcony) letting the shafts of the NYC morning sunrise show through the smoke, the mirrored ball twirling and the music just jamming away. Barry and Dicky would be standing with their guitar necks in parallel spaced about one foot apart moving their hands up and down the necks of the guitars, occasionally dipping their bodies in unison as the music flowed out of them. I also remember walking in silence up to Port Authority watching the light bounce off the bits of glass that are ground into the NYC sidewalks - just like that mirrored ball - totally floored. As far as I can determine, no tape by anyone was ever made of that show. The closest I could find was the 4/16/72 show from the same run at the Academy. I hoped it would capture some of the excitement I experienced but this show seems pretty straightforward with none of the fireworks that I remember from 4/14/72. The mix has Bett's low. Although the tape says audience I don't hear much audience so I'm wondering if it is an FM brodcast.
