Notes: | Sound quality: Most of show is Europe 72 commercial release quality except there are about 10 places where small sections repeat or there is a digital glitch that would be easily corrected with PC sound editing software. Show: The band plays most songs in what I would describe as a contemplative vs emotional style. Set 1 - China has a nice little jam, You Win Again is magnetic, Playin' jam is short. Rest are pro-forma. Set 2: Dark Star has a variety of styles. Jazzy group jamming ~9:00, ~17:00 they play feedback/sustained chords/ "twangy" guitar jam which turns quiet & spacey with lots of noodling. Dew is strong point of show where you sense emotion. I can hear in the background in several places a "radio" station or pickup, especially on Sing Me Back Home. Overall a below average Europe 72 show.

Notes: | sbd - fixed version [2006-02-26] Show has a high pitched whine that is annoying once you pay attention to it. Sugaree has a subsecond gap near the end. Performance - PITB has some nice Keith but the 1st surprise is SOTOTW! Wow. Good Lovin' doesn't pack much energy and typifies this show. The Star > Dew combo is worth a listen. The Star gets very edgy with some "effects" that is not typical. The Dew is a strong version. Then Billy does a drum solo of sorts but it is an odd fit at this time (or its not a drum solo and they stop playing a bit while he noodles) until they close out with Sugar Mag and an excellent version of Sing Me Back Home before the OMSN encore. Not competitive with most of the other shows this tour. But the PITB, SOTOTW, Star > Dew are worth a listen.

Notes: | Recording Info: SBD -> Master Reel -> Cassette -> Dat (48k) Transfer Info: Dat (Sony R500) -> Samplitude Professional v7.02 -> FLAC [2007-04-02]Typically very good sound quality and mix. This E72 performance doesn't exciteme very much. Set 1 has the standard mix of tunes but no version stands out worthy of specific mention. The PITB and Good Lovin' at the end look enticing on paper but are short without significant engagement or energy of delivery. The 1st signs of interest is SOTOW -> MAMU to start set 2. SOTOW is a classic GD tune in my book, but in this era it is better placed inside a TOO. The main jam from set 2 has a Star > Dew > Sugar Magnolia. The Star is a weak version to me, featuring Lesh playing chords and Garcia tinkering around all without any particular melodies or theme - after about 21 minutes they start to gel into some ensemble work but it doesn't really get there - the Dew falls into the consistent delivered category. This tape also has the radio station bleed through (never had heard how that happened).

Notes: | flac16; source info: Master Soundboard Reel (Rex Jackson) > Reel (Jerry Garcia)> Reel (Will Boswell) @ 3 3/4 ips) > CD; CDs copied in EAC and Repairs and Adjustments in Wavelab 6.0 on the **GEMS* Edit Station by Jamie Waddell [2009-02-09]There is lots to recommend any E72 show. This has some good tunes and a cerebral Dark Star. It is a bit choppy in delivery and hence isn't a top show from this tour. If you want to listen to a Dark Star while sitting down, try this one one for size.
