For Everyman..The Jackson Browne Storybook, BBC Radio 2, England
Set I
For Everyman: The Jackson Browne... ...Songbook
BBC Radio 2
Broadcast 19th & 26th October 2004

Bob Harris presents an appreciation of one of popular music's most consistently successful writers and performers, whose 1980s albums Hold Out, Lives In The Balance, and World In Motion contain songs with a social conscience. His most recent recordings I'm Alive, Looking East and The Naked Ride Home showcase an artist at the top of his profession. With personal insights from Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, David Lindley and Scott Thurston.

For over 35 years, the thought-provoking lyrics and heartfelt music
of Jackson Browne have offered comfort, solace and inspiration to generations
of lovers, writers and peace activists the world over. From These Days -
originally recorded by Nico in 1967 - to 2002's The Naked Ride Home the quality
and consistency of his songwriting has been acknowledged in recordings by the
Eagles, Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Warren Zevon, Shawn Colvin,
the Byrds, Christy Moore and dozens of other stars who choose to opt for his
songs in preference to those of other writers. But its his own recordings and
live performances which set the benchmark for others to follow. In this
two-part series, we'll open and listen to the songbook and get the measure of
the man who the Eagles' Don Henley describes as "The most accomplished
songwriter of his generation."
