Notes: Note from LoM23: Well, everyone loves a mystery. This is all the info I got. If you check "The Jerry Site", it will not have a listing for GASB on this date and it lists none in Colorado. It claims that the only show that has Taj Mahal on Bass is 4/20/74 so this may be from that date BUT this show also has Maria Muldar as an un-announced Guest. She is on Tracks 3, and 4 w/ Track 4 being "Midnight at the Oasis". ....But The Jerry Site also says that Maria didn't join JGB til 77, but from listening, it is evident that this is the "Real" Great American String Band (Tho it is introduced as "The Great American Music Band")"lineup". The jERRY SITE Lists it as: Jerry Garcia - banjo, vocals David Grisman - mandolin, vocals David Nichtern - guitar, vocals Richard Greene - fiddle Taj Mahal - bass (4-20-1974 only) Buell Neidlinger - bass (4-26-1974 to 6-13-1974) This tape indeed has everyone but Buell on Bass cuz Taj is playin that nite. And since Maria is guest singing, it is probably an unknown GASB show and may have very well have happened in Denver on May,11th. The only thing that doesn't jibe w/ the Jerry Site is that it claims that Taj did not play during this time (but he did 3 weeks previous on 4/20)but this could have been a guest appearance - maybe Neidlinger wasn't able get to this gig. Regardless, you have 4 rare cuts of GASB W/ Taj on Bass AND Maria Muldar on Vocals!!! But then comes track 5... a much different vibe. Jerry is tuning and notices it's awful quiet and says "It's awful quiet for Berkeley" and everyone laughs... Then he introduces Martin Fierro of LoM and Jerry/Merl Keystone days and goes into a 20 minute Lonely for Me Baby? (I think), then another Song that I remember from the Merl/Keystone Albums (I think). So what you have on tracks 5 and 6 is either Jerry/Merl (at the Keystone) circa 74 OR LoM at Berkeley circa 75 (just a guess)
