Sony UCX-S 90 cassettes, with Dolby B On. Taped by Andrew F. Mic on 7-foot tent pole, center seat of 30th row (rear orchestra). There were too many yells and hand-claps to deal with, so I left those as-is. CD-Wave used for track-ID?s, and FLAC Frontend for lossless compression. Notes: My seat was in the center, but far back and under the roof of the mezzanine. This resulted in the tape sounding a bit distant, and with a ton of audience noise. This tape is definitely of the "warts-n-all" variety, but I decided to release it since the circulating sbd is muffled and has static, and I haven't yet found a good audience upgrade. On the plus side, it's a great show for mid-80's fans, and Brent give a great performance. The sound mix coming from the stage improves in the second set. The 30-minute Thunder Machine > Space > Other One segment is the show's highlight. For those who don't know, the Thunder Machine was a day-glo painted contraption on bike wheels that was made of old car fenders, piano wires, things to bang on, and pieces of horns attached to hoses. Kesey and the Pranksters "played" it by hitting it and manipulating it in various ways. It also appeared at 8/16/81 and a few other shows. At this show, Jerry, Bob, Mickey, and Billy played along. [d2t05]: There was a moment when the drummers left and the stage was empty while they wheeled out the Thunder Machine. I used this opportunity to flip the tape. d3t05: The little wind-down jam at the end of Miracle is cut where I faded and changed tapes. I managed to get it done before the start of Morning Dew. d3t08: The band skipped Sunshine Daydream and went straight to Brokedown. Enjoy! [5/1/05] ----------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you to Charlie Miller for the SBD transfer, and to Andrew F. for recording the show. Matrix by Hunter Seamons using Final Cut Pro (FLAC > AIFF > Final Cut > Soundtrack > AIFF CD tracking via Audacity > FLAC16 via xACT w/meta-tagging) November 14, 2015 Set I ----- d1t01 - Beer Barrel Polka d1t02 - Jack Straw d1t03 - Cold Rain And Snow d1t04 - Minglewood Blues d1t05 - Candyman d1t06 - Me And My Uncle -> d1t07 - Mexicali Blues d1t08 - Tennessee Jed d1t09 - Looks Like Rain -> d1t10 - Might As Well Set II ----- d2t01 - Scarlet Begonias -> d2t02 - Touch Of Grey -> d2t03 - Women Are Smarter d2t04 - Terrapin Station -> d2t05 - Drums d3t01 - The Thunder Machine* -> d3t02 - Space* -> d3t03 - The Other One -> d3t04 - Wharf Rat -> d3t05 - I Need A Miracle -> d3t06 - Morning Dew Encore ------ d3t07 - Sugar Magnolia -> d3t08 - Brokedown Palace *with Kesey and the Merry Pranksters Notes: Something happened with the SBD tape, beginning with Terrapin Station, where the speed fluctuated much more heavily and frequently, making the project about three times as difficult and requiring much smaller increments to work with. Also, the weird "mid-80's" static in the mix during the second set affected the speed/position slightly at times. I had not worked on a matrix as difficult as this since 9/9/72 (Vol. 64). All this being the case, the second half of the matrix is not quite as stable as the first half, but still pretty good overall. Soundtrack Pro was used to remove several digital anomalies.
