Honky Tonk Woman 5:39 Grateful Dead November 6, 1970 Capitol Theater - Port Chester, NY This seed is a modified disc three of the original Jack Warner seed (#17183). Marty Weinberg's MAR>CD supplies tracks 3 (00:20) through 14 (00:43). The other tracks are MAC>C>D>CD>EAC>SHN, from Ken Leigh's master, recorded from the center loge with a Sony TC-110 cassette deck with built-in microphone. This source also supplies * 3:08 - 3:25 of I Know You Rider * 2:51 - 2:53 of Drums (t13) * all tuning and between-song stuff. * Very minor glitch at 3:42 into Candyman, not worth repairing IMHO. * There is a master tape flip in Ken Leigh's source after Candyman. No music is missing. Maybe it's Marty himself ? Thanks to Jack Warner for the original seed of Ken Leigh's tape. Thanks to Uli Teute for the source disc of Marty Weinberg's reel. There is some serious tape warble on these tunes, and there is some very bad tape crackle between songs, which I have removed where possible without touching the music. Listener beware! For completists only. *There is a master tape flip at 6:14 of All I Ever Wanted. Very little music seems to be missing. I have smoothed the cut. *There is a master glitch at 2:37 of Candyman. *There are a few level fluctuations in Candyman. *There is a master tape flip after Candyman. No music is missing. *The Easy Wind which has circulated with this date has been determined to be from July 10, 1970, and, as such, has not been included here. Based on the tapes, it does not seem that Easy Wind was played this evening. *There is a small master glitch at 4:03 of Drums following Good Lovin'. *From Dave Tamarkin's recollection, there is a broken string which accounts for the break after Good Lovin'. The electric set was one long set, not two sets as it has sometimes circulated in the past. *There is a master tape flip at 7:30 of Lovelight. Very little music seems to be missing. I have smoothed the cut. **Normalization, patches, EAC, SHN encoding by Jack Warner. Uploaded to tol.etree.org 5.6.03

Notes: | includes nrps set. Fun to hear Pigpen's harmonica in the acoustic set. Electric set - Post drums re-entry into Good Lovin' has some pretty nasty Garcia guitar licks and Bobby is driving hard to boot. GDTRFB Garcia is taking off. They do do Mtn. Jam. They kick into overdrive, inject the nitrous and have a Caution > Lovelight Pig fest to close the show. Pig has good harmonica on Caution and Lovelight contains the "Bear story" with an amzaing song ending creshendo that goes on and on and on ... No soundboard in the vault so this is it for this night folks.

Notes: | aud warner [2007-09-15]Dead acoustic and NRPS sets excellent sound from the Ken Lee portions. Fairly laid back, sit down listening through this portion. Some fidelity loss on the bass that comes across as amplitude distorted. Then this segment comes on and the GD slam into high energy overdrive. Alligator (starts off as usual ) > Waggin' His Tail Jam (here where normally drums would be Jerry stays on stage and jams away with the drummers in an aggressive fashion for about 10 minutes - nust hear material) > NFA (standard but energy level maintained)> GDTRFB > Mountain Jam (brief about 1 minute)> NFA (high energy fanning creshendo)> Caution (amazing version!)> Lovelight (as if it hasn't been funky enough with the Bear story rap). I'd put this on the must hear list especially since it is available as a very good audience tape.
