Matt Vernon (1/4.8) SHN / 5 A A View 16782
Notes: sb w/ nrps. fixed up by Chris Frisco. Set 1 has a good mixture of song styles. Examples include an unusual Cumberland > MAMU pairing, Bird Song, Ripple, a superb H2H and MABM and Dark Hollow. The mix of styles doesn't lead to any string set momentum. Set 2 continue the "mix it up" with Morning Dew, Minglewood Blues, Sugar Magnolia, Black Peter, Beat it On Down the Line and I Second That Emotion. When was the last time you saw set lists like this? This date is famous for the last recorded Alligator which has a must hear jam afterwards which is the GD at their best. After this stunning bit of music, the remainder of the show is more pedestrian in its delivery. Last show at the Fillmore East. Definitely on the "must hear 71" list. Sound and mix are very good.
Matt Vernon (1/4.8) FLAC / 2 A- B/C View 26568
Notes: Marty Weinberg Master Audience Recording - of historical interest. Fairly listenable except the bass is overloading the recording. Most of the Alligator is preserved without much mangling.

Notes: flac16; matrix of SBD: shnid=33565 and AUD: shnid=26568 by hansokolow using ProTools [2009-03-28]Famous show - last Fillmore East appearance - this matrix adds a touch of the audience tape for some ambiance - love the Alligator jam - one of the cases where they seem to develop a theme not played often if ever again (like the 7/27/73 jam)
