Notes: | Note: Some bass distortion gives reduced sound rating even though its a soundboard. This show gets a high rating by many because it has almost all of the great jam songs in one show. Morning Dew as opener, Bird Song and Playin' in set 1. Set 2 has Eyes, Stella, Dark Star, Truckin, Wharf Rat, HCS, He's Gone. I would say that all renditions are good average Dead. None of them stand out. Wharf Rat comes across the best in terms of communicating emotion through sound. Have to give this show the award for the killer set list though. The set 3 jam with the Allmans and Merl is fun but with this many people mixing it up I didn't hear anything that made me want to get up and hear it again.

Notes: | lac16; Recording by Bill Gadsen partial Set 1 & 2: Recording Info: (FOB) Unknown Mics -> Cassette Master -> Reel (1/4 Track - 7.5 ips) Transfer Info: Reel (Sony TC-366) -> Korg MR-1000 -> Samplitude Professional v10.02 -> FLAC All Transfers and Mastering By Charlie Miller and Neil Sturtevant [2008-02-08]A surprising nice aud that has a good soundfield and not too much distractive audience noise - well worth a listen for enthusiasts of early aud recordings.

Notes: | lac16; Recording Info: SBD -> Master Reel -> Dat -> CD Transfer Info: CD -> Samplitude Professional v10.01 -> FLAC All Transfers and Mastering By Charlie Miller. This is a fixed version of shn id 89640 [2008-02-08]This show gets hight marks because it has all the heavy hitters (Dark Star, PITB, EOTW, TOO, etc..) along with a set 3 jam with the ABB folks. To me the gd sets are quite good but I don't rank them that high because none of them are epic versions compared to other dates this year - the set 3 jam just has too many people participating - i've not found a case where guest artists bring much tothe gd because it interferes with the normal tight ensemble playing to make room for the guest, except for Branford in 1990

Nice sound. The only gripe is that it lacks some of the amazing true improv jams of the best of 73.
