Notes: | sbd - cribbs [2006-08-12] Very nice sound quality with good mix on this show. Perky playing throughout makes this one worth hearing even for the non-jam tunes. Another 3 set show. PITB is an 18 minute version which allows some intereing exploration without wankery setting in. Garcia plays some interesting effects on this one too.

First two run through the 73 repertoire. TC review raves about the C>R but it doesn't strike me as that exceptional compared to all the other great versions. The general feel is that the band is enjoying themselves but there are no transcendent moments in the 1st two sets that catapult this into the must hear category. Sound is good though the mix is a little unbalanced with the drums high. The big jam in set 3 (after a break to fix the equipment) is He's Gone-> Truckin'-> TOO -> EOTW -> China Doll. The overall feel for me was a serial delivery using the individual baseline styles without any special intra-song excursions or amusing twists on the segues. EOTW gave me the most spontaneous feel. Over time the Stronger Than Dirt jams feel contrived. EOTW does have a very jazzy feel to it. After Truckin there is a Phil Bass Solo with drums. TOO features too much atonal playing through around 5 minutes they do get into a good ensemble jam for a few minutes.

Notes: | sbd patched by Charlie Miller [2007-05-15] Another version of this show - nothing grabbed me this time. This looks to be the preferred sbd source as of this date. [2007-07-10] Usual suspects stand out - PITB at end of 1st set. Set 2 HCS, C>R. Set 3 He's Gone-> Truckin'-> The Other One-> Eyes Of The World. Being an outdoor afternoon show, the band appears relaxed.
