Notes: Grateful Dead 12/31/81 Oakland Auditorium Arena Oakland, CA "This show is dedicated to the memory of Ken Kesey, who passed away while I was editing Disc 2 at the time... he "guided me" through a very tough section which contained a large number of master volume changes! I'll shake his hand again someday, and tell him 'Thanks for the help'... and I know Ken will just give me that knowing wink of his..." Notes: Source: DSB> CDWav> CDR *Stellar show, one of many I enjoyed for years on analog and pursued on CD. Great acoustic set w/ Joan Baez and in my humble opinion the hottest most smokin'est Shakedown Street ever played. Sure Jerry screws up the words a few times but thats when you really know its going to be a smoker! The Drumz> a MONSTER Other 1 tore the roof of the place and there's a Morning Dew that can make a guy teary-eyed in the right circumstances. A Dark Star revival from '79 in the 3rd set that wouldnt be played again until a Friday the 13th in July in '84 and again at the Warlocks show in '89 (for all you stat-heads) Joan Baez plays on several tracks after the Acoustic Set and supposedly it was driving Jerry crazy and he wished she would have just gone home. This was supposedly refered to as the "Joan Baez Scare" due to her taking the stage repeatedly and clashing with Jerry's vocals during the Baby Blue while she did some twisted dance, oh well, at least she never made another show. Brack's call: Great show, I wish I wouldnt have been in 6th grade living in Ohio so I could have been out groveling for tickets... Disc 1: Acoustic Set (w/Joan Baez) Me & Bobby McGee (final time played) Bye Bye Love Lucifer's Eyes Children of the 80's Bank's of the Ohio *Electric Set 1* SHAKEDOWN STREET!!!
