There were several post track gaps of .01 second which I removed with Wave Trim. I used Add-A-Wave to rejoin tracks for retracking with CDWave. EAC'd.../Seeded by Doug Nawrocki | |||||

Notes: | The Deer Creek Music Center first opened its doors in the summer of 1989 with one of its first shows hosting the Grateful Dead. As always at Deer Creek, it was a beautiful sunny day and tickets were hard to find. All of us were lucky enough to score lawn seats and the extra large "Woodstocks" that were in circulation that summer. Its funny to look back at it, but all of the guys I went to Deer Creek with were new friends at the time, and are still my good friends some 15 odd years later. Deer Creek was left somewhat in the shadows of the amazing 3 show run at Alpine Valley which followed, but it was truly an experience to be had. I've been looking for copies of this show since that very night, but until recently I could find only the weakest of audience recordings. FINALLY, a crispy soundboard reunited me with my memories and highlights what a great show it really was. The 1st set was solid all the way through, but it was the Bird Song, my all time favorite version, that blew me away. At 13.5 minutes, with Phil melodies throughout, it still makes the hair stand up on my arms when I listen to it. I remember that the second set's Foolish > Victim were both "new" songs, but thoroughly enjoyed them. The set really took off however during the rolling Truckin into a gritty bluesy Smokestack Lightning. The following jam into Drumz was beautiful, and the Drumz themselves intense. It may have been the Woodstock, but the Space with its "Close Encounters" theme left me with my jaw wide open under a beautiful star filled night. The transition into my 1st China Doll has me remembering this as a highlight, but the powerful Stella Blue and Sugar Mags closer had the crowd fully amped. A beautiful and soulful Brokedown Palace was the perfect encore. I was inches away from crawling literally into the back of a VW bus on the way to Alpine Valley, but I didnt think that $15 would get me to Wisconsin and back to Ohio. We instead spent the night sitting on a blanket at a rest area on I70, watching the traffic go by and smiling at the experience we just had. This show is a treat that I'm happy to put into circulation...enjoy Source: SBD > MR > DAT > C > DAT > CDR Transfer: EAC > Wave Trim > CDWave > mkwACT CD 1/Set 1: Tuning Bertha > Greatest Story Candyman Walkin' Blues Peggy-O Queen Jane App. We Can Run...
